Brutal Axe Attack in Paris Suburb: Ex-Partner Charged with Murder After Woman’s Death

A woman in her fifties of Moroccan origin was killed with an axe on June 20 in Gagny (Seine-Saint-Denis). The investigation led to the arrest and indictment of her former partner for murder.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the ex-partner, Abdelhak, did not accept the breakup with Fdila, the victim, whom he accused of swindling him. On June 22, the 54-year-old man was indicted in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) for murder. Accused of having killed his 56-year-old ex-wife and injured his 21-year-old cousin, he was placed in detention at the Fleury-Mérogis prison (Essonne), reports Le Parisien.
Alerted by local residents in the early hours of June 20, the police went to Place Tavarnel in Gagny (Seine-Saint-Denis), where they found two seriously injured and unconscious women on the ground. They were Fdila and her cousin Majda. The two victims were rushed to the Henri Mondor hospital in Créteil (Val-de-Marne) and the Lariboisière hospital (18th arrondissement). The next morning at dawn, Fdila succumbed to her injuries. The autopsy revealed that she died from a head trauma caused by a blow with a blunt object.
Majda, on the other hand, suffered a fracture of the left parietal bone of the skull. She was given a temporary total incapacity (ITT) of 30 days. Due to her serious condition, she has not yet been heard by the investigators of the departmental judicial police service of Seine-Saint-Denis. But what really happened? According to the surveillance camera images and witnesses, the two victims refused to shake the accused’s hand at the entrance to the train station. Visibly annoyed, Abdelhak grabbed an axe from a shopping cart and struck Fdila in the head.
The victim managed to flee while her cousin tried to hold back the accused. The man in his fifties struck the young woman in the face with the axe and went after Fdila. He caught up with her and continued to hit her on the head with the axe. The accused fled after hearing the first police sirens. But he was apprehended on the RER platform. In his bag, the agents found an axe with reddish traces.
The victim’s relatives told the police that Fdila and Abdelhak had broken up after a short relationship of a few weeks. But an accusation of fraud complicates matters. "He would have given her a large sum of money to be exchanged in Morocco. And he suspected her of having swindled him," details a source close to the case. Abdelhak threatened and harassed Fdila, who, fearing for her safety, "had filed a complaint at the Gagny police station on June 11, 2025." During his custody, the accused confessed, accusing his ex-wife of having swindled him out of 15,000 euros.
