Glory opens an investigation into the Rico Verhoeven - Jamal Ben Saddik incident
Glory has just announced the opening of an investigation into the incident that occurred between Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven and Moroccan champion Jamal Ben Saddik during the Grand Prix evening.
"Glory has strict codes of conduct for all athletes and their coaching staff. The results of the investigation and any sanctions will be published shortly," Glory said in a statement.
Reacting to the incident, Rico Verhoeven said he had "clearly won fairly. And then he (Jamal Ben Saddik) comes back in the ring. This man simply has to be banned from this sport. It’s unacceptable."
And to continue: "I’m really disgusted by this behavior. It’s anything but sporting, it’s not what real fans want to see. I’ve already KO’d this guy twice, so I’m really not afraid of him... He’s already the biggest and strongest of all, but he keeps doping. It’s incredible, isn’t it?"
The Dutch kickboxer won his fight against Moroccan Nabil Khachab, winning the heavyweight Grand Prix and a $500,000 purse.
