Globetrotting TV Host Hails Morocco as World’s Most Welcoming Country

Frenchman Antoine de Maximy, host of "I’ll Sleep Over at Yours", is delighted to have been well received in Morocco, one of the destinations he visited during his cult show.
"[...] Paradoxically, one of the most welcoming countries is Morocco. As if it’s not a matter of religion anyway. Vietnam was super welcoming but then I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t understand," Antoine de Maximy confided on Thursday during his appearance on the Touche pas à mon poste set as part of the promotion of the upcoming new episodes of his show.
On the other hand, the reporter says he was poorly received in Côte d’Ivoire. He recounts an incident with a man. "I kept my cool because that’s how things get defused. There, it’s really him who’s attacking me. I was planning to eat in that restaurant. I was doing as usual, filming my dishes, not him. He came back to bother me. I think he was someone who had problems to settle. He was very aggressive. I answered him properly and he wanted to throw me out," the host revealed.
What about the United Arab Emirates? This is the country where Antoine de Maximy was the most unwelcome. "It’s quite bizarre, it’s not necessarily ’badly welcomed’ but it’s difficult. For example, the Emirates, it was complicated," he said, before explaining: "Because when there’s a wedding, there’s a party for the men and a party for the women." And to continue: "So you arrive, you want to sleep at people’s places, they don’t know you, they’ve seen what’s happening on French television, well it’s not as wise... So it was difficult."
