Global Chip Shortage and COVID-19 Drive PC Scarcity in Morocco

The Moroccan PC market has been facing a severe shortage for a few months now. The reasons behind this shortage of computer equipment in the Kingdom are health and technical.
In the Moroccan market, sellers and consumers are complaining about the scarcity of PCs, reports Challenge.ma. The few models that fill the shelves of these sellers are limited, particularly in Derb Ghallef in Casablanca and on e-commerce sites.
One of the reasons justifying this scarcity of computer equipment is the health crisis due to the coronavirus. Following the choice of distance learning for several thousand children, parents of students and students rushed to these sales sites to buy equipment for their children. This is also the case with a large number of employees forced to telework due to the preventive measures related to Covid-19.
The other reason underlying this shortage is the drop in production in China as well as the shortage of Intel processors. This situation is causing disruption in the global logistics chain of the IT sector. However, Moroccan resellers announce an upcoming replenishment by their wholesalers.
