Global Airline Safety Shakeup: Air New Zealand Dethrones Qantas, Royal Air Maroc Misses Top 25

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is once again absent from the ranking of the 25 safest airlines in the world.
As in 2024, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is not in the top 25 of the world’s safest airlines, established by the specialized website Airline Ratings this year. Its inclusion in this prestigious list dates back to 2020. In addition to RAM, the airlines Singapore Airlines, KLM and Air France are also absent from the ranking. Iberia and Vietnam Airlines, on the other hand, are making their entry into the top 25. The Korean Air company has moved up to the top 10.
Air New Zealand maintains its lead in the ranking this year, slightly surpassing Qantas, the long-time leader of this annual AirlineRatings top. "The first place was once again very close between Air New Zealand and Qantas, with only 1.50 points difference. While the two companies apply the strictest safety standards and pilot training, Air New Zealand continues to have a younger fleet than Qantas, which separates them," explained Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings.
Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and Emirates are tied for third place. "If these three airlines tied for third place, it’s because they simply couldn’t outperform each other. From the age of the fleet to the skills of the pilots, through safety practices, fleet size and number of incidents, their scores were identical," Petersen commented.
