Germany Pledges $701 Million in Aid to Morocco for Renewable Energy and Development

Three agreements totaling 701.3 million euros, in the form of loans and grants, were signed on Wednesday, July 23, 2020, between Morocco and Germany, as part of the financial and technical cooperation between the two countries.
For Mohamed Benchaâboun, the signing of these agreements once again testifies to the excellence of the cooperation and friendship between Morocco and Germany. It also testifies to the relevance of the areas of intervention of this cooperation, focused on priority development sectors of the Kingdom, in particular the promotion of renewable energies, energy efficiency, sustainable economic development and water resource management, indicates the MEFRA.
This signing also marks the launch of a new pillar of development cooperation between the two countries, in particular under the "partnership to encourage reforms" aimed at supporting Morocco in its dynamic of reforms undertaken, particularly in the area of financial sector reform.
It also aims to improve the business and investment climate, and to strengthen advanced regionalization, with the aim of further developing the potential of the private sector. It also aims to promote sustainable and job-creating economic growth.
At the end of the signing ceremony, the two officials reiterated the willingness of the two countries to work together to materialize the projects included in the signed agreements. They also promised to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in these areas.
