German-Moroccan Tourists’ TikTok Exposes Street Harassment in Nador, Morocco
Two German tourists of Moroccan origin sparked a storm on social media after posting a video on TikTok denouncing the harassment they experienced in Nador.
In this video, the young women, visibly affected, recount their disturbed walk by motorists and motorcyclists who were bothering them.
"It’s beautiful, but the behavior of the inhabitants is very strange," confides one of them to her subscribers, before describing the harassment scenes suffered by herself and her friend. They claim to have been followed by men in cars and on motorcycles, and that an individual even threw them a paper with his phone number.
The video, which quickly went viral, sparked strong emotion on social media. Many Internet users reacted, some confirming the statements of the German tourists and denouncing the harassment suffered by women traveling alone in Morocco. Others, more nuanced, advise rather to ignore this kind of behavior and not to be discouraged from visiting the country.
