German Airport Strike Threatens to Disrupt Morocco Flights, Affecting 100,000 Travelers

Many flights between Morocco and Germany could be canceled next week due to a 24-hour strike by security screening personnel.
Four German airports at a standstill, 351 flights canceled. The security screening personnel are launching a 24-hour strike on Monday, March 13 to demand wage increases and improved working conditions. "Longer waiting times and flight cancellations will have to be expected," warned the trade union Verdi. For its part, the airport association ADV specified that the 351 flights will be canceled from Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg and Hanover, and that these cancellations will affect nearly 100,000 passengers.
Verdi is demanding more attractive working conditions. "Working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, has a negative impact on family life [...]. Working conditions must become more attractive so that a sufficient number of people are willing to do this work," he argued, saying he is in negotiations with the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) to obtain "hourly premiums for night work and weekends."
