Gendarmerie Seizes 3.5 Tons of Tainted Meat Bound for Moroccan Markets

The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie managed to intercept a truck transporting large quantities of spoiled meat. The seizure took place on Monday during a check in Ouled Said, in the Settat region.
3.5 tons of meat and offal, unfit for consumption, were destined for the markets of Berrechid, Settat and Casablanca, reports Al jarida24. The merchandise, of dubious origin, was transported in conditions that did not comply with any hygiene rules.
The truck driver had tried to bribe the gendarmes to avoid the check, adds the media, which specifies that the individual was arrested and taken into custody and his vehicle seized, pending the end of the investigation.
For their part, the head of the regional health office and the representative of the National Office for Sanitary Safety ordered the destruction of the spoiled stock.
