Gang Led by Woman Busted for Kidnapping and Extortion in Laâyoune, Morocco
A kidnapping gang has just been dismantled in the south of the Kingdom, more precisely in Laâyoune. Consisting of two men with a woman at their head, they extorted money from their victims under the threat of knives.
A complaint would be at the origin of the arrest of two of the members of this gang, the third still being on the run. The victim claimed to have been kidnapped on board a light vehicle, then taken away from prying eyes where, under the threat of knives, he had to give what money he had.
This man was then released by his kidnappers, on the express condition that he bring them another sum of money, promising him reprisals if he did not comply. After promising to return, he went straight to the police station to file a complaint and recount his nightmare.
Thanks to the details provided by this victim, the police were able to find two of the kidnappers, who were apprehended. The third is still on the run but has already been identified by the law enforcement authorities. The search is ongoing to arrest him as well.
The woman, the head of this gang, is one of the people arrested so far. The second suspect arrested is none other than her lover. They were placed in custody.
