Galatasaray Official’s Racist Slur Sparks Outrage from Moroccan Star Younès Belhanda

Despite numerous awareness campaigns, racism continues to prevail in the world of football and Younès Belhanda has once again experienced it. The Moroccan international was subjected to discriminatory remarks from a member of the disciplinary board of his club Galatasaray.
The Moroccan player was referred to as a "Bedouin" by Cem Emiroğlu, a member of the Turkish club’s disciplinary board. Younès Belhanda, deeply affected by this insult, declared on social media that the remarks made by the official were unacceptable.
While expressing his pride in being Moroccan, the Atlas Lion reiterated his commitment to the Turkish club but considers the racist remarks of the official to be indecent and disrespectful. "Unacceptable! We first had the right to the ’negro’ from a refereeing body, today we have the right to the ’Bedouin’ from a member of the Galatasaray disciplinary board! How far will this racism go!!!", he wrote on his Instagram account. Whatever the strength of the insults, Younès Belhanda remains proud of his origins. "Dear friend, I am certainly a Bedouin but one who loves and represents Galatasaray".
While some had announced that he was about to leave the club, Younès Belhanda responded on the field, scoring a hat-trick in 16 minutes in the match against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday.
