Galatasaray Coach Seeks to Oust Ziyech After Super Cup Defeat

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech and his teammate, Ivorian Wilfried Zaha, are held responsible for Galatasaray’s defeat against Besiktas (5-0 loss) in the Turkish Super Cup. Displeased, Okan Buruk, the Turkish club’s coach, wants them to be fired.
Is the adventure of Hakim Ziyech at Galatasaray coming to an end soon? According to the Turkish press, Okan Buruk is angry with the Moroccan international and his teammate Wilfried Zaha due to their unconvincing performance in the Turkish Super Cup against Besiktas (5-0 defeat). "When Zaha and Ziyech are on the wings, we struggle to provide the expected performance. We play on a single line... Like their other teammates, their performance was not enough. It is clear that we did not play well," the Galatasaray coach said. He is demanding the departure of the two players.
Following a meeting of the Galatasaray management board on the reasons for this early-season failure, Hakim Ziyech and Wilfried Zaha were identified among those responsible for this setback, and the club’s leaders would have asked the agents of the two players to find them new clubs before the end of the summer transfer window, according to Turkish media reports. The adventure could therefore come to an end for the Atlas Lion and the Ivorian international.
Loaned last season by Chelsea as part of a deal worth 3.6 million euros ($3.86 million), Ziyech officially signed for a season, plus an option, at the end of June with Galatasaray. The Turkish club exercised the purchase option that became free thanks to clauses fulfilled at the end of the year. But the recent performances of the former Chelsea attacking midfielder do not really guarantee his stay in the Turkish club.
