Fuel Prices Rise in Morocco as Global Oil Costs Surge

Moroccan motorists have been paying a little more at the pump since yesterday, Wednesday, April 17. Fuel prices have seen a slight increase at most service stations.
The price of diesel is now around 13 dirhams per liter, an increase of about 8 cents compared to last week, according to an observation made by the site Le360. On the gasoline side, the increase is a bit more pronounced, with an average price of around 15 dirhams, an increase of about 14 cents.
This price increase is explained by the surge in oil prices on international markets, due to the war in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed on Russia.
The same source recalls that the Moroccan government has put in place direct financial assistance for transport professionals of all categories (taxis, buses, trucks, road tractors, etc.). This aid, launched in 2022, has already made it possible to pay 7 billion dirhams to carriers.
