Fuel Prices in Morocco Set to Rise on Sunday

Unpleasant surprise for Moroccan motorists. As of this Sunday, December 1st, they will pay more for fuels (diesel and gasoline) at the pump.
The price of diesel will increase by 20 cents per liter, and that of gasoline by 10 cents per liter as of this Sunday, according to a source from the National Federation of Owners, Merchants and Managers of Service Stations in Morocco (FNPCGS) to Le360. Currently, diesel is sold at 11.27 dirhams per liter and unleaded gasoline at 13.07 dirhams per liter in downtown Casablanca, the same source said, specifying that these prices will be higher in other cities of the kingdom, due to transportation costs.
During the second quarter of 2024, the market was marked by declines in international prices, purchase costs and fuel sales and selling prices, the Competition Council explained in a recent report, noting that "operators have passed on almost all of the decreases in purchase costs to their national selling prices."
Similarly, operators achieved gross margins of nearly 1.21 dirhams/liter for diesel and 1.79 dirhams/liter for unleaded gasoline during the period, down 25 and 28 cents respectively from those recorded in the first quarter, which were 1.46 dirhams/liter for diesel and 2.07 dirhams/liter for gasoline.
