Fuel Prices in Morocco Hit New Record High, Surpassing 15 Dirhams per Liter

As announced by some specialists, the dance of fuel prices continues in Morocco, this time crossing a new record. On Tuesday, prices exceeded 15 dirhams per liter at the pump.
More precisely, the service station panels displayed 15.58 DH for a liter of gasoline and 15.56 DH for a liter of diesel. A record compared to pre-Ukraine crisis prices, reports Maroc Diplomatique.
To mitigate the effects of this surge in fuel prices, the government had put in place a system of direct aid to carriers, with the aim of maintaining the stability of the current rates for the daily transport of citizens and goods.
In addition, the executive has also taken measures to maintain the purchasing power of citizens by offering subsidies on various products such as the suspension of import duties on wheat. A subsidy of 14 billion dirhams has been allocated to electricity to prevent Moroccans from seeing their bills skyrocket.
