French Woman Jailed for Posing as Lawyer in Morocco
A woman holding French and Algerian nationalities was sentenced to four months in prison in Essaouira. She presented herself as a lawyer and offered legal services without having the right to practice.
The court of first instance in Essaouira also imposed a fine of 3,000 dirhams on her and ordered her to pay one symbolic dirham to the Bar Association, which was constituted as a civil party.

According to Alnahar, the case began following a complaint from a real estate agent, in the context of a dispute over a land file.
The defendant was prosecuted for fraud, scam and usurpation of a regulated profession. She had been arrested by the judicial police and held in custody before her trial.
Her fake office exposed online
The woman presented herself to clients as a lawyer and manager of an office offering legal consultations and support.
She also used social media to promote her services. Electronic evidence gathered by a court officer was submitted to the file.
