French team: Muslim players banned from Ramadan

Called up to the French under-19 national team to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Mahamadou Diawara, who plays for Olympique Lyonnais (OL), would have left the Blues on Tuesday to continue his Ramadan fast, after the French Football Federation (FFF) banned players from observing the fast while on national team duty.
Mahamadou Diawara returned to his club where he trained on Wednesday, reports Lyon Foot, specifying that the player of Malian origin did not make any statement to the press on this subject. Also, OL, the coach of the French U19 team, Bernard Diomède, and the FFF did not officially react to this decision by the player.
Born in Longjumeau, the former Parisian is one of those who, on social media, are asking that a break be granted to Muslim players to allow them to break their Ramadan fast during matches. The measure is observed at OL, to the delight of the Muslim players in the club.
