French Soccer Federation Files Complaint Over Racist Abuse of World Cup Players

After France’s defeat in the World Cup final, some French team players have been the target of racist insults on social media.
Kingsley Coman and Aurélien Tchouaméni have been subjected to racist and hateful insults on social media since Sunday for missing their penalty kick. The French Football Federation (FFF) has "condemned" the remarks towards the players and announced the filing of a complaint.
Before the federation, many political leaders condemned these messages, calling on the FFF to take responsibility. "Full support for Coman, Tchouaméni, Kolo Muani. We are still waiting for a reaction from the FFF, which has already remained silent about the racist insults suffered by Mbappé during Euro 2021," wrote the PS national secretary for coordination, Corinne Narassiguin, on Twitter.
"It’s unbearable. I condemn these remarks with the utmost firmness," tweeted Isabelle Rome, the minister delegate for diversity. Insoumise deputy Nadège Abomangoli also expressed her "support" for the players. Many Internet users have denounced these remarks that they have described as "shameful".
Bayern Munich, the club where Coman and Tchouaméni play, also gave their full support to the player. "The FC Bayern family is behind you, King. Racism has no place in sport or in our society," the club had written on Twitter.
