French Senate Explores Sufism’s Global Impact as Fez Festival Approaches

Sufism was presented before the French Senate on Friday by Faouzi Skali, President of the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture. It was an opportune moment for the man to explain that beyond the poetry expressed by universal works, Sufism is also a universal heritage of humanity, regardless of beliefs and religious affiliations. He took the opportunity to talk about the 12th edition of the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture, which will be held from October 19 to 26 on the theme, "Sufi culture, a spiritual humanism for our time".
According to chalenge.ma, before the French Senate, Faouzi Skali was very convincing about the potential of the Sufi heritage which, according to him, is both living and material and remains one of the richest and most diverse in the world, "from Morocco to the Far East, in China and in the Indian subcontinent", he declared.
He also stated that the richness and extent of the Sufi heritage concern thousands of languages, artistic, literary, spiritual and poetic expressions, as well as a large number of places and mausoleums, Zawiya and Ribats.
Sufism is poetry, literature, art, philosophy and spirituality. It is a set of cultural disciplines which, according to the President of the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture, deserves to be truly studied in order to draw inspiration from it to have an impact on one’s daily life.
The festival president also outlined the artistic aspect of this event through artistic creations such as the one planned for the opening under the title, "Al Shushtari, prince of the troubadours" and the evening under the theme, "The secret language of flowers and perfumes".
Through this rich and varied program, "we wanted to show that Sufism is not only a philosophy, but also an art of living, a social art, a civilizational treasure", he affirmed.
The ceremony to present this 12th edition of the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture was also marked by an address by Senator Nathalie Goulet, which was read on her behalf by one of her assistants, as well as a poetry recital.
