French Rapper Rohff's Morocco Concert Faces Boycott Over Alleged Insults to Women

Targeted by calls for a boycott, the concert by French rapper Rohff scheduled for September 9 in Morocco risks being canceled. He is accused of having made remarks considered insulting towards Moroccan women.

Will Rohff suffer the same fate as his colleague Booba and Ninho? While he is to perform in a club in Tangier on September 9, Rohff is the target of a social media campaign calling for a boycott. "The Bling Bling Luxury Club in Tangier has dared to invite the rapper Rohff for a showcase on 09/09/2023 even though he has already made disparaging remarks about our women," can be read on Twitter. One profile congratulates himself on having succeeded in canceling Booba’s concert in the same way. He calls for a boycott against Rohff and attacks the Instagram account of the nightclub. "We must not let him do his showcase in Tangier at the unworthy establishment that invited him. Write to the establishment and leave a note and a Google review. Share and act!! #Boycottrohff," this Internet user then describes.

On X, the campaign is starting to gain momentum. Some Moroccan Internet users have called for the cancellation of Housni’s concert. They blame the rapper for having denigrated the Moroccan woman in the titles "La Cuenta" and "Déterminé". "I don’t know Rohff, I made a quick montage of what was sent to me about him, if you know of any other disparaging remarks he may have made, feel free to let me know," tweets a Moroccan Internet user. For now, the concert is maintained and should be sold out.

The Casablanca prefecture had canceled a Booba concert scheduled for June 21, amid a boycott campaign accusing the French rapper of sexism. Moroccan Internet users had criticized titles like "E.L.E.P.H.A.N.T", where the star raps "little Moroccan sleeps with Berlusconi", in reference to a Moroccan nicknamed Ruby who had participated in the "bunga bunga" parties of the former Italian "Cavaliere" when she was a minor. Ninho’s show scheduled in the same city was also canceled, but his concert was able to be relocated to Marrakech in another establishment.
