French Politicians Criticize Media’s Pegasus Coverage, Praise Morocco’s Diplomatic Gains

Julien Dray, member of the National Council of the French Socialist Party and lawyer and essayist Gilles-William Goldnadel denounce the relentlessness of the French media against Morocco in the Pegasus affair. They also welcomed Moroccan diplomacy, the latest achievement of which is the change in Spain’s position on the Sahara issue.
"I don’t understand the relationship that France is trying to establish with Morocco. While this country is in full evolution, moving very quickly and is an essential element of diplomacy in the Mediterranean, people in France are trying to put sticks in its wheels," says Julien Dray, president of the Prospective Cell of the French Socialist Party on CNEWS. According to him, the most important information concerning Morocco is "the recognition, for the first time, by Spain of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara." This member of the National Council of the French Socialist Party thus points out that this major conflict is in the process of being resolved by the work that has been done by King Mohammed VI. "Because for months and months I don’t understand why French diplomacy is not taking the initiative to rebuild a healthy relationship with Morocco," he adds.
"It is especially the French media that are lagging behind in recognizing the benefits of the Moroccan regime when we compare it, for example, to the Algerian regime," says French lawyer Gilles-William Goldnadel, who invites these media to make a little effort. "It’s still curious that we make a big deal about the Sahrawi people, but there was no question of talking about the Algerian Kabyle people," he wonders, disapproving of the treatment against Morocco in the Pegasus affair.
