French Police Seize Ton of Moroccan Cannabis in Highway Drug Bust Near Paris

A large quantity of drugs from Morocco was intercepted this weekend by the French police of the National Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) on the A10 motorway near Chartres.

This go-fast convoy, i.e. fast vehicles dedicated specifically to drug trafficking, was made up of three people, all of whom were arrested, according to the French police quoted by the newspaper l’Echo républicain.

The drug traffickers were returning from Spain where they had recovered the drugs from Morocco and were then to transport them to France. It was apparently intended for the Paris region and northern France.

The three men were taken into custody at the premises of the Interregional Directorate of the Judicial Police (DIPJ) of Lille (Nord) which can last up to 96 hours and will then be placed in detention pending their appearance before the courts, the same source said.

For this type of task, drug traffickers are generally paid between 10,000 and 20,000 euros. The drugs, on the other hand, are bought for around 600,000 euros per ton in Spain before being resold at least five times more expensive in France and even more if they go further north.
