French Nationality Cost Increases to 255 Euros

The increase is dramatic for foreigners who wish to become French. According to information published by Service-public.fr, an application for French naturalization now costs 255 euros. This amount must be paid in the form of a tax stamp.

The amount applies to naturalization applications by decree, as well as applications for reintegration into French nationality. The same sum is also required for certain nationality declarations, particularly through marriage to a French citizen, as an ancestor of a French citizen, or as a brother or sister of a French citizen.

The amount is reduced in French Guiana, where it stands at 127.50 euros. For people residing in France, applications for naturalization or reintegration by decree are made online, with the possibility of paying the electronic tax stamp directly during the process.

The administration also warns against private websites that offer paid services related to French nationality procedures, particularly for obtaining an appointment at the prefecture. Apart from the tax stamp, acquiring French nationality remains a free procedure.
