French Muslim Council Sets Zakat Amount for Eid Al Fitr 2019

The amount of zakat for Eid Al Fitr 2019 was revealed this week by the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM). But this amount is once again the subject of a sterile controversy this year.
For the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), the fact of having set this amount at 5 and 7 euros is entirely legitimate. The two opinions "are convincing, legitimate and there is no need to make a controversy out of it since the beginning of Islam, people have been paying zakat in the form of different food items representing the same volume (a sa’), but not the same monetary value," says the CFCM, as reported by the Saphirnews website.
And to remind the regional bodies to specify to the faithful the amount of zakat, an amount that differs between the capital and the province. The CRCMs must therefore take into account "the prices of food items that can vary between the capital and the province," writes the same source.
Even if the CFCM reports the two amounts, in most French mosques it is the amount of 7 euros that is announced.
