French Interior Minister Criticizes ’Ethnic Food Aisles’ in Mainstream Supermarkets

The presence of "community cuisine" aisles in "mainstream" supermarkets shocks the French Interior Minister. "This is how communitarianism begins," the politician asserts.
"It has always shocked me to go into a hypermarket and see that there is an aisle for such community cuisine, this is how communitarianism begins," said Gérald Darmanin, stressing that it was "his opinion."
The Interior Minister does not, however, point the finger at consumers. "That people go to a kosher or halal hypermarket to buy products, everyone can do that," he says.
However, companies bear some responsibility for this state of affairs. They are concerned, not with the consumer’s interest with respectable offerings, but rather with profits on communitarianism, denounces the minister.
Responding to the question about the possibility of a new attack in France, Gérald Darmanin stated that "the question is not whether there will be an attack, but when." "Attacks are made in an unpredictable way," he stressed.
