French Hotel Group Caphotel Expands to Morocco, Opens Subsidiary in Marrakech

The development of foreign tourism in Morocco and the dynamic growth of the local market are motivating hotels to set up in the kingdom. A French hotel chain has recently created a subsidiary in Marrakech.
Caphotel is landing on the African market. The Deret group, founded in 1947 by Robert Deret, one of the 500 largest fortunes in France, is setting up in Marrakech through its first hotel subsidiary outside the Hexagon, called Caphotel Maroc, reports Challenge. A project that is part of its measured development strategy, adopted in 2018, which aims to strengthen its presence in major French cities and internationally. After the ochre city, the group will extend its activities to Casablanca and Tangier, in order to take advantage of the increase in the number of foreign tourists in Morocco, as well as the growth of the local market.
Caphotel was created in 1997. Its capital amounts to 100,000 DH. The company is led by Asmaa Manni, director of hotel activities at Caphotel. This Moroccan born in Casablanca in 1966 is the wife of Lucien Deret, son of Robert Daret. She owns a beauty center and a SPA in Dar Bouazza. Before the creation of Caphotel, the Deret group was only invested in transportation. Today, it is present in five business sectors (transport, logistics, packaging, real estate and hotels). It employs 7,000 employees and generates a turnover of 500 million euros.
Deret is ranked 8th logistics group in France. The group operates 70 warehouses totaling more than 2 million square meters and owns 16 hotels and 4 restaurants. Lina Deret, Asmaa’s daughter, is the director.
