French Fugitive Wanted by Interpol Arrested at Marrakech Airport

A French national of Algerian origin was arrested by the national security services at Marrakech-Menara airport. The French justice had issued an international arrest warrant against him.
The arrest of the French national took place on Friday during the check-in operation in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). The national security services operating at Marrakech-Menara airport discovered that the national central office in Paris had issued a red notice against this 29-year-old man for the execution of prison sentences pronounced against him by the French justice.
The DGSN states that the accused would be involved in a case related to an armed robbery against a company in the city of Saint-André de Corcy, France, during which the defendant would have stolen the jewelry, watches and mobile phones of the people present on the spot under threat of a firearm.
After his arrest, the suspect was taken into custody. He should then be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office. The Interpol office in Rabat under the General Directorate of National Security will inform its French counterpart of this arrest, which will pave the way for a possible extradition.
