French Fugitive Wanted for Drug Trafficking Arrested at Casablanca Airport

A 37-year-old French national of Turkish origin was arrested on Friday by the national security elements at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca.
The French justice had issued an international arrest warrant against him for his alleged membership in a criminal network involved in drug trafficking, aggravated theft, receiving stolen goods, violent sequestration and arson on French territory.
The thirty-year-old was apprehended upon arrival on a flight from Turkey. During the check-in operation in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization Interpol, the national security elements at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca discovered that he was wanted internationally, at the request of the Paris national central office, to serve a prison sentence.
The suspect would belong to a criminal network involved in drug trafficking, aggravated theft, receiving stolen goods, violent sequestration and arson on French territory. He would also have driven a vehicle without a driver’s license and under the influence of drugs, would not have complied with the injunctions of the French police and would have deliberately hit a police officer.
After his arrest, the suspect was placed in custody. The Rabat Interpol Office, under the General Directorate of National Security, will inform the French authorities of the arrest of the alleged drug trafficker, which will pave the way for a possible extradition.
