French Art Theft Suspect Arrested in Morocco Following Interpol Alert

The police arrested a French of Algerian origin on Thursday in Marrakech, following information from the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
This arrest was carried out following an international arrest warrant issued against him by France, according to a security source quoted by the MAP.
During the check in the Interpol database, it was discovered that this 37-year-old man was wanted internationally. A "red notice" had been issued by the National Central Bureau in Paris, requesting his arrest so that he could serve a prison sentence decided by the French justice system.
He is also suspected of being linked to a criminal group responsible for the theft of three high-value paintings in 2018, including a work by a famous French painter.
Pending his trial, the man was placed in pre-trial detention. The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), through the Interpol Office in Rabat, informed France of this arrest with a view to a possible extradition.
