French Football Federation Bans Match Interruptions for Ramadan Fasting

The French Football Federation (FFF) expresses its opposition to the interruption of matches to break the Ramadan fast.
A reminder from the FFF that is not well received. The French Football Federation and the Federal Refereeing Commission, chaired by Éric Borghini, sent an email to the official referees on Thursday, March 30, to remind them of the ban on interrupting matches to break the Ramadan fast. "These interruptions do not comply with the provisions of the FFF Statutes," reads a leaked email.
It will reiterate that football does not take into account the political, religious, ideological or trade union considerations of its actors. "This principle applies to all: bodies - clubs - licensees - referees. It is up to all stakeholders to ensure that it is respected," the governing body of French football concluded.
On the web, Internet users are crying out in outrage. "Yet they promote LGBTQ+ and condemn the war in Ukraine. Land of freedom..." fumes one Internet user. "When it’s the South American players who make religious signs or display large cross tattoos, that doesn’t bother the FFF," expresses another.
