French Embassy Advises Nationals as Morocco Suspends Flights from France and Spain

The French embassy in Rabat has made recommendations to French nationals and residents following Morocco’s decision to suspend air links with their country and Spain from Tuesday, March 30 at 11:59 p.m., until further notice.

"The French embassy recommends that French nationals and residents contact their airline to examine the arrangements for their return to France. It also recommends that everyone postpone any travel plans to Morocco until further notice," the French diplomatic representation said in a statement.

On Monday, the Moroccan authorities decided to suspend passenger flights to and from France and Spain from March 30 at midnight, until further notice. This decision is part of the preventive measures taken by the kingdom to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants.

Special flights of passengers from these two destinations will be subject to enhanced controls, in accordance with the health protocol defined by the competent Moroccan authorities, said a statement from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) under the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, Air Transport and Social Economy. For its part, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has decided to increase flights with France and Spain on Tuesday, in order to allow travelers to return home.
