French Customs Seize 777 kg of Moroccan Cannabis Disguised as Tomatoes

Several hundred kilograms of cannabis resin from Morocco, packaged in the shape of tomatoes, were intercepted last week on the A63 in Castets (Landes), according to the Dax customs brigade.
In total, 777.72 kilograms of cannabis resin worth more than 1.55 million euros were found in a truck registered in Spain supposed to be transporting metal product pallets between Spain and France.
Surprisingly, during the routine check inside this heavy goods vehicle coming from southern Spain, the customs officers came across two plaster pallets inside which they discovered "Moroccan suitcases" (plastic bags) filled with pallets wrapped in several layers of red plastic film, giving them the appearance of tomatoes. "But these are not fruits, but blocks of cannabis resin wrapped in red plastic film," the statement notes.
The truck driver was placed in pre-trial detention, the brigade said, noting the singularity of the method adopted by drug traffickers.
