French Convert Dies After Knife Attack at Moroccan Mausoleum in Fez

The Frenchman established in Morocco and converted to Islam died on Thursday morning in one of the hospitals in the spiritual capital, following the injuries he suffered to the neck during an attack perpetrated by a person suffering from mental disorders at the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, confirm well-informed sources to the website Al3omk.
The facts took place on Tuesday. While he was sitting inside the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss reciting the Quran, this 49-year-old Frenchman, who has been living in Fez for years after his conversion to Islam, was attacked with a knife (a sharp object used to slaughter camels) by an individual. Seriously injured in the neck, he will be admitted to the emergency department of the Hassan II University Hospital Center, where he will receive the necessary care.
Shortly after, the elements of the Fez police prefecture arrested a 53-year-old man who suffers from mental disorders. He would be the author of the attack. The knife used in this attack was seized. After his arrest, the fifty-year-old was taken to the psychiatric services of the Ibn El Hassan hospital in Fez, where he underwent a psychiatric evaluation. The security services have opened an investigation to shed light on this case.
