French Actress Karin Viard Reveals Traumatic Film Set Experience in Morocco

In an interview with the French online tabloid Konbini, actress Karin Viard makes disturbing revelations about a traumatic experience she had with a director in Ouarzazate in the Moroccan desert. She talks about a painful and psychologically unbearable memory that she has not been able to forget.
The events took place during the filming of the film "Les Victimes", released in 1996. The 54-year-old actress confides that she was psychologically mistreated by the film’s director, Patrick Grandperret, former winner of the Jean Vigo Prize. He died in March 2019 at the age of 72. Karin Viard remembers him as a tormentor who left her with serious psychological sequelae.
While promoting the film "Les Apparences", which is a replica of the singer and actor Benjamin Biolay, the actress returned on September 23 to the cruel side of the film world and her traumatic experience with director Patrick Grandperret. "I was a young actress, I was lost in Ouarzazate in the Moroccan desert and the director hated me and tortured me psychologically on a daily basis." She still remembers the director’s phrases that were sources of discouragement and self-doubt for her. "So, what is this little Parisian actress going to do to us?" she painfully recalls, noting that for her "it was hard, it was really hard."
According to the same source, far from home, from her loved ones, she took refuge in alcohol in an attempt to alleviate her suffering and cope with the trauma inflicted on her by the director. "Since I couldn’t go home at night, I drank to try to lighten myself, which obviously is not an extremely virtuous option. And so it was even worse in the morning because I woke up with hangovers trying to get out of a situation that was sinking me even more," she concluded.
