New Freight Route Launched Between Spain’s Motril and Morocco’s Al Hoceima Ports

Traditionally used for the transport of passengers, cars and vans, the maritime line between the ports of Motril and Al Hoceima will also serve for the transport of goods by roll-on/roll-off trucks.
After an initial test shipment, two trailers loaded with various products (juices, glasses, cans, energy drinks, mineral water and canned goods) weighing forty tons each, left Motril on October 31 for Al Hoceima, reports Portal Portuario, specifying that this is the first and only commercial route for freight traffic to the Moroccan city.
The shipments will be made every Monday and Thursday, with a forecast of fifteen trucks per week. The local company Hub Place will set up a logistics activity area inside the port of Motril that will be responsible for collecting the Spanish products to be transported to Morocco and delivering them once in the kingdom through its subsidiary Logisticx Maroc.
The President of the Port Authority of Motril, José García Fuentes, stressed the importance of this new maritime line which "represents a new impetus for the growth of the port’s freight traffic with Morocco and North Africa in general and also for the trade balance".
