Franco-Algerian Drug Kingpin Arrested in Morocco on International Warrant

A Franco-Algerian, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French authorities for drug trafficking, was arrested on Tuesday in Tangier.
The Algerian national is considered one of the biggest drug traffickers in the Lille region, in northern France. He is said to have left the country to escape legal proceedings. Collaboration between the French authorities and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) of Morocco allowed the judicial police agents of Tangier to arrest him last Tuesday, reports the daily Assabah.

The accused, aged 32, was arrested in possession of a quantity of drugs and in the company of a 21-year-old girl. He was the right-hand man of the famous drug trafficker nicknamed Lhaj, arrested by the French police in 2021, after an operation to dismantle an international drug trafficking network.
An investigation has been opened by the security services under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to elucidate the circumstances of his entry into Morocco and his relationship with the girl who accompanied him during his arrest. The procedure for his extradition will be initiated, in coordination with the French authorities.
