The timetable is set: starting in 2027, institutions will have to make their selection criteria public and understandable, then explain every rejection. A year later, Parcoursup is set to be replaced by a new system, the French government announced on Monday, October 26.

The official statement from the French Ministry of Education says the new system has yet to be developed. A committee bringing together high school students and teachers will issue its first recommendations at the end of November. The options under consideration include a guidance tool using artificial intelligence.

The government is also planning 15 000 additional places in higher education between 2027 and 2028: 10 000 in BTS programs starting in 2027, 4 000 in BUT programs and 1 000 in university health programs.

In Morocco, two application processes depending on the student’s profile

For students preparing for the French baccalaureate in Morocco, Parcoursup remains the application route for the first year of a bachelor’s degree. The same process applies to French-Moroccan students, including those sitting the Moroccan baccalaureate.

A student of Moroccan nationality preparing for the Moroccan baccalaureate must use Études en France to enter the first year of a bachelor’s degree. Campus France Morocco also says that applicants to BTS programs and preparatory classes apply through Parcoursup. Applications for the first year of BUT programs may be handled through the ADIUT Maroc program on Études en France.

For families already working through current applications, the next deadline comes well before the reform: Campus France Maroc sets November 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. as the deadline to submit and pay for Études en France applications for the relevant programs.

Applicants to BTS programs and preparatory classes will have to follow Parcoursup’s own timetable in 2027. They will then see the selection criteria made public and receive an explanation for rejections in June.
