France International Student Aid Cut to 30% in 2026-2027
The French government has validated a decree modifying the exemption rules for registration fees for international students. This text, crucial for Moroccan students, clarifies acquired rights and sets new allocation limits.
Extra-European students, including Moroccans, who benefited from financial exemption during the 2025-2026 academic year will not lose this advantage. They will retain this financial boost until the end of their university cycle, on the strict condition that they continue their studies at the institution that initially granted them the scheme. The official document published on Legifrance further confirms that students who have already received approval for the 2026-2027 academic year, before the text came into force on 21 May, will keep their benefits intact.

The real change lies in the downward revision of allocation volumes for the coming months. To regulate these aids, the authorities now limit the exemption rate to 30% for cases concerning the 2026-2027 academic year. This budget tightening will strengthen from the following academic year, since the authorized ceiling will drop to 25% for the 2027-2028 academic exercise.
