France 5 puts Morocco’s Valley of Roses in the spotlight this Saturday

Titled « Morocco, the Valley of Roses », this season 21 episode offers around an hour and a half of travel. France Télévisions announces a journey through mountains, villages and palm groves, with a focus on residents’ daily lives.

The Valley of Roses gives the program its name. At the foot of the High Atlas, around Kelaat M’Gouna and along the M’Goun River, the Damask rose is part of local identity. Its spring harvest supplies, among other things, the production of rose water and cosmetics, while the annual festival celebrates the industry.

The journey continues in Ouarzazate. The program looks at the city, whose landscapes have made it a filming destination for international cinema, before heading to the oases of the Anti-Atlas.

Water and crops at the heart of the oases

In these regions, Jérôme Pitorin explores the connections between water, agriculture and the solidarity of local residents. Crops and palm groves are another stop on this journey through the south.

Morocco is a regular destination for « Échappées belles ». In September 2022, an episode presented by Ismaël Khelifa and devoted to Moroccan villages drew more than a million viewers. A previous program about the country’s south also passed that mark in December 2015.

« Morocco, the Valley of Roses » is scheduled on France 5 at 9:05 p.m. French time, and will also be available on the france.tv platform.
