France Fast-Tracks Citizenship for Essential Foreign Workers in COVID-19 Fight

693 foreigners are "on the way" to obtaining French nationality and 74 have already obtained it out of a total of 2,890 applications registered by the prefectures.
These are "Health professionals, cleaners, childminders, cashiers... They have proven their attachment to the nation, it is now up to the Republic to take a step towards them".
In mid-September last year, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, in charge of citizenship, Marlène Schiappa, had instructed the prefects to "accelerate and facilitate" access to French nationality for foreign nationals who mobilized "on the front line" during the coronavirus epidemic. These people have, it is said, actively participated in the national effort, with dedication and courage.
