France Approves Funding for Development Projects in Moroccan Sahara

Relations between Rabat and Paris are strengthening. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given the green light for the financing of projects in the Moroccan Sahara.
The Quai d’Orsay authorizes French development financial institutions such as "Proparco", a subsidiary of the French Development Agency, or the public investment bank "Bpifrance" to finance projects in the Moroccan Sahara. This decision comes a few weeks after the visit of the French Foreign Minister to Rabat. During this visit, he met with Nasser Bourita, his Moroccan counterpart. During a press conference, he stated that France would support Moroccan investments in the Sahara.
"Morocco has invested a lot in development projects for the benefit of local populations, in the fields of training, renewable energies, tourism and the blue economy related to aquatic resources," Stéphane Séjourné had said. And to reaffirm: France would be committed to "the development of this region in support of Moroccan efforts".
French delegate minister for Foreign Trade Franck Riester is expected in Morocco at the end of this week, according to French media.
