Morocco’s Football Revolution: Royal Vision Sparks Global Triumphs

Lekjaa affirmed that the performances achieved by the national teams, across all categories, and the titles obtained in recent months, are not the result of chance, but the outcome of a dynamic initiated years ago under the supervision of King Mohammed VI. The rigorous implementation of the royal vision is the key to football success, said the FRMF president in an interview with Sky News, adding that what has been accomplished is just the beginning of a bright future for Moroccan football.

"The work continues in the different age categories according to the royal plan to promote sport in general, and football in particular," assured Lekjaa, recalling that "after the achievement in Qatar, the Olympic team distinguished itself at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by winning the bronze medal and being a candidate for gold. The under-17 team won the African Cup, the under-20 team reached the final of the continental championship before being crowned world champions, while the women’s futsal team won the African Cup, which reflects the reality of the work done within the national football system."

The president of the governing body of Moroccan football continues: "All the national teams work within the Mohammed VI Football Complex, inaugurated by His Majesty the King in 2019, and which is now one of the best training centers in the world. The national teams of all categories reside there, exchange their visions, evaluate the players’ performances and work on developing their skills for the future of the national teams. [...] The players are integrated progressively and continuously, involving the most brilliant from the Olympic Games in the first team, in harmony between all the categories and according to a unified vision."

And he concludes: "The Federation works on the principle of ’one generation passing the torch to another,’ in perfect harmony between preserving experience and providing opportunities for new talents, in order to ensure the continuity of Moroccan brilliance at all levels." On the women’s football side, performances are also being recorded with the women’s futsal team winning the African Cup, confirming the success of the Moroccan football project, across all categories.
