Four Moroccan Hostages Freed from Myanmar Criminal Gangs Return Home

Among the Moroccans detained by criminal gangs in Myanmar (Burma), on the border with Thailand, four young people, including three men and one woman, are said to have returned to Morocco.
A total of 29 young people would be held hostage by these criminal networks in Myanmar. The exact number of Moroccans remains unknown for the time being, but some of them have managed to leave the detention camps, sources tell Al3omk, specifying that two young Moroccans have been rescued and taken care of by the International Organization against Human Trafficking in Thailand. They will be handed over to the Moroccan authorities in the coming days. Five others are said to have paid a ransom, but are still being held by these criminal gangs.
The Moroccan and Thai authorities are closely following this situation. The Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Casablanca has opened an investigation entrusted to the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) to shed light on this case and arrest any person suspected of being involved in these acts. According to the first elements of the investigation, the victims would be detained by criminal networks specialized in human trafficking. These gangs dangle attractive job contracts in e-commerce and attractive salaries to young people in order to scam and exploit them.
For their part, the families of the Moroccan victims demonstrated last Thursday in Rabat to ask the authorities to do everything in their power to save their children. In addition to Moroccans, many sub-Saharan African youths would also be detained by these armed criminal gangs in Myanmar.
