Former Spanish PM Aznar: Morocco ’Humiliated’ Spain During Sánchez Visit

The former President of the Spanish Government, José María Aznar, deplored on Thursday in Seville the fact that Mohammed VI did not receive Pedro Sanchez upon his arrival in Rabat, considering this act by Morocco as a "humiliation".
"We have been humiliated by Morocco," Aznar denounced during a conference on the theme "Spain in Debate" held in Tomares (Seville), wishing that Spain’s interests be "better defended and represented". The former President of the Government also deplored the fact that the High-Level Meeting resulted in a mouse. "A spectacular operation was carried out, and no agreement was reached, no consensus was found," insists Aznar, who says he is more upset that Pedro Sanchez is "snubbed" and more embarrassed that he allows himself to be "snubbed".
For the moment, sticking to the facts, the relations between Morocco and Spain do not benefit Spain, believes Aznar, who denounces the country’s foreign policy towards the kingdom. According to him, Spain’s foreign policy must be the subject of a consensus between the political forces, especially with the leader of the opposition, the Popular Party (PP). In this regard, he deplored that Sanchez failed to reach an agreement with the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, on the Sahara issue, a matter of national interest which, he believes, should have been the subject of debate in the Congress of Deputies sanctioned by a vote.
