Former Soccer Star Mohamed Ihattaren’s Home Auctioned for Debt in Utrecht
The house of former footballer Mohamed Ihattaren in the Haarzicht district in Utrecht, the Netherlands, was sold on Thursday at a forced auction.
The house was auctioned off to pay Ihattaren’s debts, the former player of PSV, Ajax Amsterdam and Juventus. The house was sold for an amount of 744,000 euros, much less than what Ihattaren had paid to acquire it.
Ihattaren, aged 21, had initially bought the house for 950,000 euros, according to the land registry. Before the auction, an attempt had been made to sell the house for 850,000 euros, without success. Finally, a forced sale was decided by the courts, as Ihattaren had refused to pay two creditors, including the water company and a furniture store.
The online auction attracted a lot of people. More than fifty offers were made on the property built in 2021. The auction finally ended with an offer of 744,000 euros. The new owner now has a spacious 188 square meter townhouse on a 150 square meter plot of land.
