Former Podemos Leader Criticizes Spain’s Stance on Western Sahara and Morocco

The former Deputy Prime Minister and former leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, said that "it is a mistake for Spain to give in to the Moroccan dictatorship and betray the historical dignity of the Sahrawi people".
Invited to the rally in support of the candidate of the alliance formed by Podemos, IU and Si se puede for the presidency of the Canary Islands in the context of the May 28 elections, Iglesias hailed the courage of Podemos not to follow the line dictated by the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) and Pedro Sanchez, stressing that the two parties, although members of the governing coalition, defend different interests and have differences. "They want to see Podemos dead because they know that with Podemos, things change," he said.
Podemos assumes the fact of criticizing the PSOE for the change of position on the Sahara, noting moreover that housing will be at the heart of the May 28 elections, the socialists having voted against Belarra’s proposal to stop the rise in mortgages and proposed "the subsidy of part of the mortgages, through ICO loans". "Can a bank that makes money selling mortgages promote the interests of families who have to pay a mortgage? You didn’t find a bank to help people buy houses," wonders the former deputy president.
