Former Morocco Star: Regragui’s Appointment Key to World Cup Success

Moroccan players are more productive since the arrival of Walid Regragui at the head of the national team, according to Karim El Ahmadi, former Atlas Lion. Invited to comment on the performance of the Moroccan team in Qatar, the Moroccan-Dutch player expressed his pride, especially regarding the performance of his former teammate Sofyan Amrabat.
Karim El Ahmadi is one of the Moroccan players who participated in the 2018 World Cup in Russia with Hervé Renard. On the ESPN set, the former Ittihad player believes that Morocco would not have reached this level at the World Cup if Vahid Halilhodzic had not been fired.
He believes that the arrival of Walid Regragui has brought peace back to the team, with players more relaxed and able to devote themselves to the work. "All the players in the Moroccan national team are delighted with the presence of the new coach and feel much more comfortable with a good team spirit. This was not at all the case with Vahid," said Karim El Ahmadi.
For the former international, each member of the team is in his place, but the one he is most proud of is the midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat. "I think Sofyan, with the central duo, is one of the most important players in the Moroccan national team," he said. "I played with him at Feyenoord, he’s really a personality. He became grumpy every time he wasn’t in the starting lineup," he added.
