He said he was ready to take on other challenges and stressed that he would carefully study all the proposals that will be made to him.
At 34 years old, the former captain of the Atlas Lions, who is clearly in good shape, had helped the team win the 2019 Emir’s Cup of Qatar and the championship title a year later. "It’s the end of a beautiful experience in an exceptional country," he posted on Instagram. He expressed his gratitude to the club and its leaders. "Such an ambitious club that for 2 and a half years has offered me the best working conditions," he added.
In his message, Benatia says he will take the time to think because "ambition and passion are my motivations". Before announcing his departure for a well-deserved vacation, he stated that he will take the time to study each of the proposals that will be made to him to decide on his next destination.
Benatia had ended his career with the Moroccan national team after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final in Egypt, after winning 62 caps for Morocco. He joined Al-Duhail the same year, from Juventus. The player played 22 games this season in all competitions.
