Former Morocco and Arsenal Striker Marouane Chamakh Announces Retirement

While he had been without a club for nearly two years, the former Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh has just officially announced his retirement.
Invited to the l’Expresso show on BeIn sport, the player announced that he was retiring from the field and would try to become a consultant or coach. "It had been two years since I had really cut off from football. It was intentional. Officially, I had not declared that I was retired. I’m not on social media," the player said. I really wanted to cut off from football and get closer to my family. Today, I can say that I have really retired from football."
But Chamakh is not abandoning the world of football, as he hopes to become a consultant or get his coaching diploma. "I’m going to try to come back into football as a consultant or maybe as a coach. I’m also going to try to get my diplomas."
The now former player, who also has French nationality, started his career at Bordeaux before flying to England where it was not really a success. He first signed with Arsenal, before joining West Ham, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City. At one time announced in Qatar for a golden end to his career, he had ultimately declined.
