The president of the commune of Mrirt (province of Khénifra) Mohamed Adal was sentenced, Thursday, to 6 years in prison by the Criminal Chamber of First Instance in charge of financial crimes at the Court of Appeal of Casablanca. He is accused of "participating in the waste and embezzlement of public funds entrusted to a public official" and "creating and selling real estate areas without authorization".
In addition to these charges, the former mayor of the Constitutional Union (UC) is also prosecuted for "influence" and "creation of administrative certificates containing false information" at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). According to the instructions of the Court of Appeal of Casablanca, he will have to reimburse the embezzled money, which amounts to nearly 4 MDH as well as a fine of 60,000 dirhams.
Last year, the former MP had been heard as well as other councilors and employees of the commune in the context of an investigation into financial and administrative corruption offenses in the commune of Mrirt during his term by elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Casablanca.
In March last year, the investigating judge of the chamber of financial crimes at the Court of Appeal of Casablanca had decided to place the former MP in detention at the Oukacha prison.
